Silent No More Garden

A garden designed to spark open conversation about the five gynaecological cancers, created for the Lady Garden Foundation to help break down stigma around women's health. Taking inspiration from the ceramic sculptures of Basque artist Eduardo Chillida, the design explored how enclosure and negative space could create a sense of sanctuary, offering both intimate corners and more open, communal spaces for conversation.

A winding path led visitors through richly planted borders past five sculptural forms, each representing one of the five cancers, before reaching a central pool. From here, water flowed through deep rills into secluded seating nooks and, beyond, into a wider communal space, with light and shade shifting through the enveloping central structure over the course of the day.

The planting referenced a warm Mediterranean pallet with soft pinks, silver greys and glaucous foliage throughout.

The garden will be relocated to a community outdoor space in Jersey.
