Previously a concrete yard beside the redundant dairy, the build involved demolishing the existing hard standing and recycling the waste concrete into gabion walls, alongside re-siting an electricity pole and regrading the land. A permeable driveway and cobbled terrace were introduced, along with a reflective steel tank and boulders sourced from the local quarry, while a planted swale was added to intercept rainwater run-off from the surrounding fields.
Planting throughout was naturalistic and pollinator-friendly, chosen to sit comfortably against the site's agricultural history.
The garden has since been featured in Clare Coulson's 'Wonderlands' (Quadrille, 2025) House & Garden and Garden’s Illustrated.
