The renovation of a large family garden in north London, York stone paving was used for terraces, paths and steps as well as pond and swimming pool copings. Sliced feature boulders of the same York stone were used as informal seating, the pond rill and a ‘jumping stone’ for the swimming pool.
Paving stones were carefully templated around the sliced boulders for a seamless finish. Large fruit trees and mature multi-stemmed Amelanchier were craned over the property and planted for instant impact and to define separate areas of the garden.
Deep borders of mixed herbaceous planting softened the boundaries and provide a long season of interest.
